The Path to Healing: My Approach

Why Self-Acceptance is Key

Through my own journey and in witnessing the experiences of my clients, I have come to believe that self-acceptance is at the heart of healing. Often, we search for ways to change, to feel better, or to make sense of our experiences, yet evolution comes not from fixing ourselves but from fully meeting and accepting who we are. Through my work as a Counsellor and Somatic Therapist, I support people on this journey, helping them feel safe, connect with their inner world, and cultivate a deep sense of self-compassion, self-awareness and self-acceptance.

As Carl Rogers said, "The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” I have seen this truth unfold time and again in my work with clients. But to reach this point, we must first create the conditions to meet ourselves fully, with curiosity rather than criticism. My approach integrates talking therapy and somatic work to gently guide this process, moving at a pace that feels safe and right for you.

Creating Safety & TRUST

Before we can explore emotions, patterns, or past experiences, we need to feel safe. When there is a constant inner battle, the body cannot fully relax. Through somatic techniques, we calm the nervous system, encouraging acceptance of what is and allowing for deeper exploration. Healing happens in relationship, both with ourselves and with others, which is why the therapeutic relationship is at the core of my work. Feeling truly seen, heard and accepted without judgement creates a foundation for change. In our work together, all parts of you are welcomed with empathy and care.

Bringing Awareness to What’s Hidden

Much of what we struggle with is outside of our conscious awareness, stored in the body, buried beneath layers of conditioning, or repeating in patterns we don’t fully understand. Carl Jung said: "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate."

Using somatic therapy we will reconnect with your body’s wisdom, tuning into sensations and emotions that may have been ignored or suppressed. With no need to justify or fully understand them, we practice accepting what arises. As these hidden aspects come into awareness, you regain clarity and choice in your life.

A key part of our work together is exploring these unconscious patterns and behaviours, gently uncovering what may be influencing your experiences. Often, we don’t see these patterns clearly on our own, but through therapy, they can come into focus. As the expert in your own life, my role is not to tell you what to do but to guide you in discovering your own insights as you navigate your path to self-acceptance and healing.

Feeling, Not Fixing

We live in a world that encourages us to solve or suppress our emotions, often pushing us to overthink or fix them. This constant need to analyse can create a disconnect between the mind and body, preventing us from truly experiencing our emotions. True healing happens when we allow ourselves to feel without needing to change anything. Together, we explore emotions with curiosity rather than resistance, creating space for balance between thought and feeling. When feelings become familiar rather than overwhelming, they lose their grip, and we gain the ability to respond rather than react.

From Awareness to Acceptance

Awareness is only the first step—true transformation comes from learning to sit with what we uncover. But what does this really mean? It means exploring your feelings with curiosity, listening to your body, and allowing yourself to experience emotions without trying to fix or avoid them.

Self-acceptance isn’t about resignation; it’s about making peace with all parts of yourself. When you stop fighting who you are and instead embrace yourself with compassion, you create space for growth, resilience, and a deeper sense of ease in life.
